The Importance of Eating Vegetables

Many people do not get the required amount of vegetables. Although it varies depending on your age, gender, and level of physical activity, the average amount of vegetables for children between the ages of 8-14 is between 1 ½ - 3 cups daily. Veggies are a very important part of a healthy diet. They can be eaten raw or cooked; fresh, frozen, canned, or dried/dehydrated; and may be whole, cut-up, or mashed. It is also important to get a variety of vegetables. There are several groups of vegetable: Dark green vegetables, Orange vegetables, Starchy vegetables, dry beans and peas, and other vegetables. Vegetables are a lot more important than they seem.
